| Aleister Crowley, Thelema, Crowleyanity, Abrahadabra Discuss anything about the single greatest force in promulgating magick of all time, The Great Beast (Master Therion), a.k.a. V.V.V.V.V (Vi Veri Vniversum Vivus Vici -- "While still living, I have conquered the universe by dint of truth.") and Perdurabo ("I Will endure unto the end.") |

I was doing some looking around at another site, and have discovered a question for fellow thelemanites...Is thelema considered to be on the LHP and if so why is it considered as such? For me, I don't see such distinctions in paths. Alot of Crowley has taken that box away from my perception...your views on this my friends.

It should never be forgotten for a single moment that the central and essential work of the Magician is the attainment of the Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel. Once he has achieved this he must of course be left entirely in the hands of that Angel, who can be invariably and inevitably relied upon to lead him to the further great step—crossing of the Abyss and the attainment of the grade of Master of the Temple.
Do what thou wilt, shall be the whole law.. 93 |

I'd say it is. It's "Do as thou wilt" instead of "Do as you're told"
That I think is the distinction between the two paths. True will vs. dogmatic transcendentalism. |

Nothing is true; everything is permitted.

"Do what thou wilt" is infinitely subjective. It doesn't necessarily have to mean LHP or RHP. To me, and many others, it means to follow your will (do what thou wilt; do what you WILL). To follow your true will at all costs and overcome your compulsions to the contrary. Your thelema can have tendency toward either severity or mercy, but I feel like AC meant for the system to lean toward the middle pillar. the neutral. That's just my take on it though.
your Will decides which path. not the system. |

I do not pretend to know what Crowley meant by the words. To me, however, they signify the complete overcoming of 'law', and not merely moral 'law', as nothing more than delusions cooked up in the minds of humans. 'Do what thou wilt' implies that anything is possible for the magician.

By night he’s the wild wind’s rider, The Horn’d One, the Lord of the shades, By day he’s the King of the Woodlands, The dweller in green forest glades. She is youthful or old as she pleases, She sails the torn clouds in her barque, The bright silver lady of midnight, The crone who weaves spells in the dark.

The difference is that yours is a call for limiting one's action. Do what thou Wilt... can be a call to action as well.
And how do you defend yourself if you cannot harm? |

Chris I believe in one secret and ineffable LORD; and in one Star in the Company of Stars of whose fire we are created, and to which we shall return; and in one Father of Life, Mystery of Mystery, in His name CHAOS, the sole viceregent of the Sun upon the Earth; and in one Air the nourisher of all that breathes. And I believe in one Earth, the Mother of us all, and in one Womb wherein all men are begotten, and wherein they shall rest, Mystery of Mystery, in Her name BABALON. |

"do what thou wilt" so long as it doesn't impede on anyone else's ability to carry out their will, and if you choose to do so then expect retaliation.
