I haven't heard much talk of the act of invoking the elements (fire, earth, water, wind, quintessence), and it's something I'm just recently getting into and I've gotten great results from invoking earth so far. It seems a lot simpler than invoking a diety, which is great, because I'm certainly in need of something lower on the ladder to build up to that.

Does anyone else here work with invoking elements?

I used to invoke them directly, here is the ritual I used to use.

Now some of the Beings I invoke have Elemental attributes so that is how I do it now.

I know that F Bardon has a good study about the elements meditation and contact their entities.
What I also know is that before contacting them and entering into their realm the magickian must equilibrate his/her body /soul elements.Of a great use is the diary of each element.

Last night I invoked the quintessence and it was mind blowing. I've never been exposed to so much energy in my life, I got this weird throbbing feeling, like a heartbeat just above my left kidney and my pulse was really irregular. I'm guessing it's because I took in the aether kind of greedily, might have taken quite a large dose.
Well I might as well explain the ritual the best I can:
I made my alter in my room with a purple candle, amethyst, dragon's blood incense and a bowl of weed. I did a basic Gnostic Thunderbolt ritual to banish and opened my chakras with meditation and entered a trance, facing north. I smoked the pipe that I charged with psychic energy and began meditating on, but not invoking, the four other elements, then imagined myself surrounded by UV black light and breathed in its energy with five inhalations. I felt weird, I can't really describe it. I felt full of something extremely powerful that I've never felt before.
During this ritual I placed the amethyst crystal so it would glow in the candle light. I sat down and gazed into the crystal and it began to emit a metric holy fuckload of purple energy into the room and I ate it up like a fat kid at Old County Buffet. I felt my third eye tingle at first and then it felt like it was...open? Best way I can say it. Anyway, I stopped taking in energy when I felt this throbbing, like an artery, pounding up from the top of my left kidney to my brain, and I was like "oh fuck I'm so full, I better stop" I stood up and looked at my hands and I was glowing with this faint purplish light. I played around with it for a while and it seemed to move according to me will for the mot part, at times not so cooperative. I switched the amethyst with some agate and stared again into it and an octarine eye appeared, staring back at me. I thought "I shall make you my servitor", and so I stared at it intently and shot my purpley energy into it as I thought of how to word my demands, and I eventually told it to lead me to events that would bring me to a good life and told it to destroy itself if it did not complete it's mission within 72 hours. It fufilled its duties I think, because my maestro (master of glassworking) was extra hard on me today, but I made great progress in my skills today, but it was kind of a shitty day though, but that happens. I'm going to try to destroy it tonight, because I feel I half-assed the programming of it.
Well then I blew out the candle, turned my light on and put my magical articles away. I then noticed on that amethyst crystal that two black dots appeared on opposite sides of the crystal, the sides that me and the candle were on, one of the dots protruding, the other inside the crystal.
I kinda freaked out at that point.
That's all I can really put to words right now.

But that would be an evocation.

Or activating part of the psyche that responds to the cross... therefore triggering the sphere of sensation to react in co-ordination with the mind, thus the four elements in unison/Spirit that are within the sphere of sensation would be invoked... theirfore, an invocation..

I suppose that makes sense, in a sense of gestures in magick.

I've found that elemental work goes well with astral magick.
