Well, I'll be damned... I still think about contacting a LWA who visited me after reading a book... After reading everything I could get my eyes into about voodoo (after that experience) I've found out about some people being visited out of the blue, supossedly, it is because they had a relationship in some past life... I mean, why would a LWA visit somebody after reading a book with it's veve (zaraguin)? My life was already a mess, and it didn't further break down, I just got a big headache the next day...

Now, the thing is that although I think about contacting the lwa constantly, I'm weary of pissing the lwa off for the very reasons you mentioned nytek, specially since the spirit is a black widow.

How should I go about it? All I know is that in a state of fear is big no-no.

No offense, but you're not one of those types of people that needs exact instructions, are you? Just wondering, because if you go back and read my post, or read it again rather, you'll find everything there you need to get started in the links from it alone.

All the best with your path,
nytek

Only when I'm somewhat scared, I've seen and sensed multiple spirits but the LWA was mmmmm... DAMN POWERFULL.

I'm just being extra mindful.

Ok, well then, It's just a matter of getting to do it. Thanks.

Exactly, my friend. Not that it's the only factor in their power, but just think of all the animal sacrifices and offerings the lwa get daily from their devoted practitioners. Then there are the ancestors. Many people are all uppity about serving their ancestors once per year. In Vodou, you could be doing it every day, or once per Saturday. lol So yeah, it's about work; service and being served. This, in a world where kids wanna scribble down a circle and conjure up some horrible fiends of the pit to fix their whole life in a snap when they can't even be troubled to learn simple candle magic or energy body work first!

The difference between the average Western Eclectic Occultist and the average Vodouisant of authentic lineage is that one is typically plugged into a thousand watt light fixture at best that may burn your bulb out when in the former mode. Vodou, however, plugs you into so much power you need instructions to use it so you don't destroy your life in a nearly certain nuclear holocaust. Dude, my life is totally different. No, I don't feel like sharing details.

Seek, if you aim to seek. With what's there you will find. I have no doubts. Good luck.

Just one question about practicing both systems, can the altar be in the same room as the temple? I found out about a palero here.

It's hard to answer that. I've heard some refuse to serve Erzulie Freda and Erzulie Dantor on the same days due to them not getting along and taking it out on the vodouisant when consideration is ignored. Likewise, not all spirits will get along equally within the same company, or next to each other in the room even. If you have any real questions related to practice you should ask an initiate in any case.

edit: I personally have two shrines that are not of anything to do with Haitian lwa; one to a Pagan goddess, and an allegedly fallen angel. Then again, despite duality, I view even so-called demons as the spark of God's divinity which serve a necessary purpose that's not to be obsessed over anymore than "being a good person", instead of, "feeling like one", anyway. So in a way I view those two as lwa too, just not Haitian lwa, so I keep their service separate.
